Your Personal Fashion Guide to Recruitment

Recruitment can feel a bit nerve wracking and scary as it is, but no need to stress on what to wear each day! I am here to give you some advice and suggestions so you can look fabulous, and still feel comfortable. COMFORT. The most important thing during recruitment. From personal experience, I chose to wear uncomfortable clothing and I regret it to this day.

Here's a day-by-day break down of what to wear: Open House

-All you will need to wear is the T-shirt provided for you by Panhellenic, khaki shorts, and tennis shoes. I suggest wearing 3 inch JCREW khaki shorts because they are the perfect length and JCREW even gives you a student discount by showing your school ID! If not, any khaki short will do, just make sure they are not too short!

Philanthropy
-On this day, I suggest wearing a light sundress. You need to remember that you will be running from house to house so try and wear a dress where sweat won't appear. You can wear wedges or flats during this day. If you wear wedges, YOU NEED to put a pair of flip flops in your rush bag. I promise it will make all the difference wearing flip flops from house to house and then putting on your wedges before you go inside. Skit

-This day is a little more fancy. Wear a dress that is a step up from a sundress but a step down from a cocktail dress if that makes sense. Maybe darker colors will help set the mood for this day. You can wear wedges, heels or flats but I suggest wearing wedges or heels and then flip flops in between houses. Preference

-On this night everyone is required to wear black. This is the most important and memorable night of them all so dress a bit fancier than the rest. Heels are normally worn on this night as well.

On each day you can wear any jewelry you want but just remember you will be in a house with hundreds of girls so it tends to get hot and sweaty. I hope this helps you with planning what to wear each day during Recruitment. We are all so excited to meet you and can't wait to see what kind of style you bring to Zeta Tau Alpha!

Hey y'all! We hope everyone is having a great start to their summer and getting excited for rush! Because we know that recruitment is something that will be on everyone’s minds for the next few weeks, we made a list of topics that often come up during recruitment. Read over this ABC list of fun things that often come up during recruitment week; if you’re nervous about any of the potential conversations you’ll be having, this can help ease your worry!

A - Away games, ACL Music Festival, Austin Chronicle festivals, Austin Eats food tour, Austin Helicopter tour

B - Barton Springs, Blues on the Green, Basketball/Baseball season, Big/Little, the Boardwalk, Bananarchy

C - Camp, classes, concerts in Austin, Calloway, Castillian, Cheese classes at Antonelli’s

D - Deep Eddy pool, the drag, dorms, Duren dorm, Drive-in Theater, Dolce Neve

E - Extracurricular activities (high school and prospectively in college!)

F - Football season, food trucks, Float Fest, Flyboarding, Fountain Park

G - The Greenbelt, Graffiti walls, Ghost Tour

H - Housing, Hamilton Pool, Hardin House, Hula Hut, hydrobiking on the lake, Hawaiian Falls

I - Ice cream (Amy’s!), involvement on campus, IMAX movies, Inner space cavern, Indoor Skydiving

J - Jacob’s Well swimming hole, jogging the hike-and-bike trail at Lady Bird Lake

K - Kayaking, Kinsolving dorm, Krause Springs swimming hole

L - Lady Bird Lake, Lake Austin/Travis, the Long Center

M - Mozart’s, movies, Mount Bonnell, moms, McKinney Falls swimming hole

N - Nighttime bat watching, New movies at Alamo Drafthouse

O - OU/Texas Weekend (GET EXCITED!!),

P - Parents, Pitch ‘N Putt, paddleboarding, parent’s weekend, Pinballz arcade, Peter Pan mini golf, Pedernales State Park

Q - Quidditch (UT has a successful Quidditch team)

R - Round Up, roommates, restaurants in Austin, Roller Derby, Ride a Rocket

S - Student government, sisterhood, Sno Beach snowcones, study abroad, SRD, Salt Lick, State Capital, socials, San Jacinto dorm, Summer Cinema, SXSW

T - Tailgating, Trail of Lights, traveling for games, The Thinkery, Tillery Street Plant Co.

U - Unplugged at The Grove, Uchi/Uchiko, Union Underground bowling

V - Vacation, volunteering

W - Whole Foods cooking classes, Water (and how much you’ll want it during recruitment week... it’ll come up a lot, trust us!), Wimberley Blue Hole

X - How X-cited you are for school!

Y - [frozen] Yogurt places, yoga

Z - Zumba, Zipline Adventures at Lake Travis, Zilker Zephyr, Zilker Summer Musical

Not only are these fun things to ask or talk about during your recruitment experience, but they are things you can participate in this summer while you’re visiting UT, or that you can look forward to when you get to Austin for good! These next four years are going to be some of the most fun of your life, and this is only a small snapshot of what you have to look forward to.
