ZTA Kappa Chapter Thinks Pink! |
Zeta's national philanthropy is breast cancer education and
awareness and October is when we reign. We take advantage of October's breast
cancer and education theme by decorating the UT campus with pink ribbons,
distributing Yoplait lid collection boxes across campus, brightening the
streets with our colorful pink lights shining on the Zeta house, and many other
things. Our Kappa chapter is so involved and eager to help spread breast cancer
awareness that we are raising awareness multiple times each week by
distributing our 'Think Pink' labeled pink ribbons along with breast cancer
info cards to students around the UT campus.
Not only do we raise awareness for breast cancer in October but it
also continues into our 'Think Pink' week in November. This year we have a busy
schedule set up for our chapter in support of our philanthropy. On Monday we
have a pink out themed chapter dinner prior to meeting to set the mood for the
week. Tuesday, during the day Zetas will be passing out pink ribbons and
koozies to students around the UT campus. That night, a local cycling gym, Pure
Ryde, will be offering Zetas a cycling class in which proceeds will be donated
to the ZTA Foundation. On Wednesday, a Susan G. Komen representative will give
a presentation over raising awareness for breast cancer and information about
breast cancer on the UT campus. This presentation is really great because this
information won’t just be given to the Zetas in the Kappa chapter but the
presentation is open to anyone at UT. The rest of ‘Think Pink’ week will
consist of a ‘Think Pink’ fun run and then that weekend Zetas will fill the
downtown streets as we run in the Race for the Cure. Our Parents Weekend
happens to fall on this weekend, so not only are we going to be participating
in the race, but all of our parents will be joining in on the support as well.
Our ‘Think Pink’ week will conclude with a fun brunch preceding the race that
we can enjoy with our parents and our sisters in support of our philanthropy.
