One of the most common words I hear as a
college student from other college students is “busy”. We are all busy with
school, busy with studying and interning, and busy making sure we make time for
friends. It’s easy to get caught up in the daily grind, but recently I learned
what amazing things can happen when we redirect our energy and support our
sisters of the Zeta community.

As an Advertising major, one of my classes last
semester had me participate in an international student competition hosted by Google.
I was on a team with four other young women and we partnered with a local
business to run marketing campaigns using Google business tools.
For six weeks, the chapter heard me make
announcements and promote my project in chapter meetings. I was surprised by
how willing girls were to help and support my team, and they let me interrupt
their busy schedules to teach them what they could do to help.
I admit, at times I was afraid of being
annoying by repeating announcements and asking friends to support what I was
working on. It was all worth it in the end when my team found out that we
placed as the Global Winner for the first-ever Google Social Media Award!
If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s
that you cannot reach the top without having a solid support system. I owe a
huge thanks to the ladies of Kappa Chapter for being so engaged and supportive
of me. I don’t think they knew that their help would make such a big
difference.
I am constantly inspired by the
accomplishments our sisters and am an avid believer that if we all take an
active role in the lives of each other, we will all be better because of it. If
something this small could have such great impact, imagine where our community
could lead us in sisterhood, service, and leadership on campus? I have no doubt
Zetas can and WILL run the world.
