Why go Greek? Why go ZTA?

WHY GO ZETA?

It is difficult for me to put into words how much Texas Zeta means to me, simply because it has impacted my college experience in so many ways. When I reflect on my freshman year, I think back not only to the big sisterhood pledge class events, but also the individual memories that I have with each and every person that I have met along the way. In hopes to explain how many different reasons there are to go Texas Zeta, PC ‘16 has shared a few of their own reasons:

“I went zeta because I wanted to make friends that would be a source of joy, advice, and craziness while pushing me to be the best version of myself, encouraging me to have the best times, and sustaining true and genuine friendships” -Avery Connell

I went zeta because I felt like I could be 100 percent myself there from day one, and I didn’t have to try to be anything I’m not!” -McKenna Richards

I went zeta because I saw a group of women who cared so deeply about breast cancer, which is such a personal cause for me because my mom had it my freshman year. I also saw a group with such different personalities, who still were such a great group of friends.” -Ellen Teuscher

Keeping the legacy in my family was a huge part of why I went Zeta. My mother was first Jewish ZTA. Every time I walk in the house I am proud and thankful that she helped bring me to these people. I can always feel young Mrs. Shipper’s energetic, fun, 70’s college girl aesthetic in the ZTA house” -Molly Shipper

Because when I met the girls during recruitment
it was the most genuine connection I've ever felt.
It actually felt like the girls truly cared about me,
and I instantly knew it was where I was
meant to go.” -Caity Callan

I went into recruitment week completely clueless about the recruitment process.  I was nervous, but when I stepped through the doors of Zeta that feeling immediately went away because they made me feel comfortable enough to be myself no matter what. ” -Betsy Welborn

Remember to keep your heart and mind open this fall so that you can find a home that is as perfect for you as Zeta is for us!

Fashion Guide for Sorority Recruitment

Fashion Guide for Sorority Recruitment

Sorority recruitment is such a fun and exciting process but the question of “What the heck do I wear?” seems to be on everyone’s mind. We’ve all been there, don’t worry! Here’s a day-by-day fashion guide to make the hectic process of finding the perfect outfits for recruitment just a little bit easier.

Days 1 & 2: Open House
The first two days of recruitment week are Open House. Panhellenic will provide you with a t-shirt. All you’ll need to worry about is khaki shorts and comfy tennis shoes. Cute khaki shorts can be difficult to find but my go-to favorites are the J. Crew 3” Chino shorts because they are a perfect length!  Small, dainty necklaces can be added to your look, and cute stud earrings. This is the simplest and most comfortable outfit you’ll wear during recruitment so enjoy it. Relax a bit and enjoy meeting everyone!

Days 3 & 4: Philanthropy Day
.For the next two days of recruitment you’ll have the ......chance to learn more about each sorority’s philanthropy and what they do to raise awareness and funds for their cause. This round gets a bit dressier so ..pick out two of your favorite sundresses to wear for ..these days. You can pair them with wedges or cute .sandals and complete your look with simple jewelry! .Pro tip: Even if you decide to wear wedges, bring flip flops for the remainder of recruitment. It can be a hike ..to and from each sorority house and, I promise, you ......won’t want to walk a mile in your high heels!

Day 5: Sisterhood Day
The fifth day of recruitment gives you a chance to see the sisterhood and values shared within each chapter. You’ll want to wear a dress that is slightly nicer than a sundress but more casual than a cocktail dress. For this day, think luncheon or tea attire. Pair your dress with wedges or heels. Don’t be afraid to show off your style with your favorite jewelry.

Day 6: Preference Night
Preference Night or “Pref” is the most intimate and memorable night of the week. That being said, it is also the most formal night. I strongly recommend wearing a classy black dress for this round. Make sure it’s not too tight or too short! Wear heels and your nicest jewelry, and get ready for a night that you’ll never forget!

Day 7: BID DAY!
YOU MADE IT! The day you’ve been waiting for is finally here! Wear a bright sundress or romper with wedges or sandals and fun jewelry. Get ready to take LOTS of pictures with your new sisters and pledge class. I promise, you’ll look back at the pictures and realize that stranger you took a picture with on bid day is now one of your best friends!

What to Bring
Panhellenic will give you a bag to carry your personal items in. Here are a few things fill it with:
-       Flip flops (SO IMPORTANT when running from house to house)
-       A water bottle
-       Deodorant or perfume
-       An umbrella (Last year it rained all week! Be prepared for the weather.)
-       A hairbrush
-       A portable fan (It can get really hot!)

Most importantly, be yourself! Don’t be afraid to show off your true personality this week. We can’t wait to meet you, girls!

Waking up really late (but my room is still dark), taking a nice shower, getting dressed in a clean room, going to a nice outdoor restaurant for lunch and drinks with friends, and chillin outside in nice 75 degree weather all day with my friends just planning our next meal. Possible appearance on the lake or getting dessert 2+ times. Nobody is worrying about school or drama :)
What is the most valuable life lesson you have ever learned? An extremely valuable lesson i have learned (although it sounds cheesy) is to do what is best for YOU, all the time. It is important not to spend time trying to constantly help others, because making the best version of yourself will help your happiness in the long run. So, love others and be kind, but at the end of the day remember to ride your OWN wave, make your OWN decisions, and love your mind body and soul as one.

What do you love most about Zeta? I love that every single Zeta is completely genuine, loyal and a great friend. I know that my Zistas always have my back and want me to succeed and be happy. They are always there for me, whether I’m up for an adventure one day or just want to chill and talk. They really are like my sisters and I love them all SO much!!

When do you feel most confident? I feel most confident when I have my life together and I know what I’m supposed to be doing. I feel like I can tackle anything when my life is organized!
What is the most valuable life lesson you have ever learned? You’re going to be wrong and you’re going to mess up and make mistakes and that’s okay! Everyone messes up, it’s not a big deal, just keep moving forward.
