PC 18's Recruitment Rundown

Recruitment is a stressful week, not to mention your first days as a new college student. It is important to remind yourself why you are going through recruitment and what you want to gain from joining a sorority. You’ll meet incredible girls at all the houses and by pref night, one house will truly feel like home. Girls who went through recruitment last year in PC ‘18 are here to tell you about their recruitment experience why they choose to go Texas Zeta.

How did you know Zeta was right for you?
“Recruitment week is difficult for many reasons: the long days, the emotional moments, the crazy Texas heat, and countless obstacles. My week was made even more challenging by the fact that my family dropped me off at my dorm then moved to South Carolina. I have lived in many places and gone to many different schools so the idea of starting over is not foreign to me, however, when I moved to college I didn't have my family as a safety net to fall back on. I knew I needed to create my own web of support here. By joining a sorority I hoped to gain the family that I was missing, when I looked around the room on preference night at Zeta, I saw a sisterhood that could do just that!”

What did it feel like to run home to zeta on bid day?
How has your relationship with zeta changed since that day?

“Running home to Zeta was the greatest feeling ever! After receiving my bid I ran home to Zeta to meet all my new sisters! The excitement I shared with the girls next to me and the older girls at the house had to be one of the best feelings ever. While initially I didn’t know many people, after a short amount of time with my bid day buddy and new gal pals, I felt the love and community I sought in a sorority. Since bid day my love for Zeta and its members has multiplied more than I knew was possible! The relationships I’ve made with these girls will last a lifetime!!”
- Lilly Sachitano, PC 18’

Tell me about the friends you have made here at zeta. How does being zetas shape your relationship with them?

“The friends I have made Zeta are the type of friendships that are immediate. Being so far away from home, it is so comforting to know that I have sisters I could text if I need anything. Being zetas together has shaped our friendships in many ways. For example, we have shared so many memorable moments together, like bid day and initiation. Being a Zeta has instilled values in me that I will carry on into the rest of my life.”
- Serena Martin, PC 18’

Why was Zeta the right house for you? How do you know that is true?

“I knew zeta was the right house for me as soon as I got my first hug during open house. The hugs made me feel so welcomed and loved as soon as I walked in the door. Also, my mom was a Zeta and I could see parts of her in the girls I talked to during recruitment week, which made me want to run home to Zeta even more at the end of the week. I’ve found love and friends here that are and will forever be unmatched. Something I’ve come to realize is that there really are no bad days at Zeta because there’s always a sister that will pick you up, help you out & support you! The relationships I’ve formed in Zeta lift me up and challenge me to be the best version of myself.”

Has zeta lead you to do something you otherwise would not have done or been able to do? How has zeta helped you grow?
“Being a Zeta has led me to so many opportunities that I would never have had otherwise! From serving on the nominating committee to help choose our 2019 executive council, to becoming Big/Little Chair with my best friend, Zeta has provided me with leadership positions I thought would end after high school. Being involved in Zeta has allowed me to grow by taking my future into my own hands and making the most out of my college experience. This chapter is such a supportive environment! Having my best friends by my side cheering me on in everything I do makes me thankful every single day that I went Zeta!”
- Katie Berger, PC 18’
The joy of running home to your sorority is unimaginable. The network of love and support that has formed around me this year reminds me why I decided to go through recruitment. I have made such good friends in this chapter, it’s hard to believe I only met them 1 year ago. Everytime I walk into the Zeta house I feel at home. Whenever I feel overwhelmed with school or other facets of life I know my friends will be there for me. Being a part of Zeta has made me a part of something bigger than myself. I have grown more than I ever thought I could in my first year of college because of my sisters. I am so excited for recruitment 2019 and for you all to go through this amazing experience, trust me, it's not something that you want to pass up!
Love,
